The throat infection is getting worse so the plan is to do the short tour of Uglich and go and see the ships doctor.
This is a walking tour of Uglich taking in ....another cathedral. One would think this is some kind of religious sabatical, but it is far from it. Russian people are very passionate about their country, and religion is a big part of their heritage.

Uglich is noted for it being the place the Rurik dynasty ended with the death of Tsarevich Dmititry. The story is the 10 year old prince was exiled to Uglivich so as not to be a threat to his brother who was the Tsar. One day he was found murdered with

his throat cut. On finding the boy murdered the church bells tolled to announce something was wrong. The official report was that he was playing with a knife in the garden and accidentally fell on the knife..... several times. The bells were exiled to Siberia after announcing his

death, and are now returned to Uglich. There have been several false Dmititry's since, proclaiming they survived the assassination, but they didn't last long before they were dealt with.
Before we left the cathedral grounds we were treated to a Russian choir using traditional instruments. The acapella singing in Russia is amazing and the instruments used give a unique sound.

After a tour of the grounds we made our way back through the market place to the ship. We found some great buys at this market but it pays to be wise to prices for products. Faux fur hats sell from 650 ru to 1200 ru for the same item so bartering is a must. One stall we went to we didn't need to barter a great deal as he was prepared to drop the prices after we had a first purchase.
Back on the ship I went to see the Doctor. This is where everything went to custard. The Doctor only spoke Russian so we needed an interpreter. She was concerned about my airways being restricted and asked if I had ever suffered bronchitis or pneumonia. I have never had these in my life and have no known allergies to any penicillin or antibiotics. I was in for an injection in the rear it seemed and anything that would fix this is a bonus. Within a minute of getting the shot I started to black out and had to lay down. I have never had a reaction like this to anything before so this was quite scary. The doctor was great and went into emergency mode giving me a series of shots to counteract and smelling salts to keep me awake. She also got a local doctor to come and check on me. After a while my blood pressure had gone back to 120 from the 80 it had dropped to and I retired to the cabin to rest.
I pretty much dozed in and out all afternoon and revisited the doctor again after dinner. She was happy with my recovery from that episode and sprayed some kind of foul tasting antiseptic on my throat. It stung like hell but 8 hours later it almost feels normal again. Unfortunately I missed a few sites along the way but hopefully I can borrow one from a travel companion.
We now make our way to Moscow via a series of lochs in the Volga Moscow waterway, a man made canal built to give Moscow access to several seaports.
